Extract pages from a PDF

Files never leave your device. All processing happens in your browser.

Single pages, ranges, or both. Leave the end off a range to mean "to the end". Page numbers are as your reader shows them.

How to convert PDF to Selected pages

  1. 1

Add the PDF you want a section from.

  2. 2

Type the pages you want, like "4-9".

  3. 3

Download just those pages as one document.

This is what most people actually want when they say they need to "split" a PDF. They do not want forty separate files — they want pages 12 to 18, as one document, to send to someone who has no business seeing the rest.

One document out, not many

The pages you select come out as a single PDF in the order they appeared in the original. That is the difference from the splitter, which breaks the whole file into pieces and leaves you to find the ones you wanted among them.

Use ranges and single pages together: "1, 4-9, 15" gives you an eight-page document. Non-contiguous selections work fine — the pages are simply concatenated in document order.

Common reasons to do this

  • Sending one section of a long report to someone who only needs that part.
  • Pulling the signature pages out of a contract for filing.
  • Extracting a single form from a bundle a government department sent as one file.
  • Separating your own chapter from a combined submission.
  • Getting one page out to attach to an email that would choke on the whole document.

Nothing is re-rendered

The selected pages are copied wholesale into a new document. Text stays as text and remains selectable and searchable, embedded images keep their original data, and vector content stays resolution-independent. The extract prints exactly as those pages printed from the original.

Do not expect the file size to scale with the page count, though. Every font used on the extracted pages has to be embedded again in the new document, so pulling two pages out of a hundred-page report can produce a file that is a surprisingly large fraction of the original. The overhead is fixed rather than proportional.

A caution before sharing

Extracting pages is often done precisely so that the rest of the document does not go out. That works — the unselected pages are genuinely not in the new file, not merely hidden. But document-level metadata is not carried over either, so if the original had properties worth keeping, note them first. And as always, check what is actually on the pages you selected before sending them.

Password-protected PDFs are refused with a clear message. Everything runs in this tab, with nothing uploaded.

Extracting is not the same as splitting

Worth restating because the words get used interchangeably. Splitting breaks the document apart into many files. Extracting produces exactly one file containing the pages you named. If you find yourself splitting a document and then deleting most of the results, this is the page you wanted instead.

Questions about PDF to Selected pages

How is this different from splitting?

Splitting breaks the whole document into many files. Extracting gives you one new document containing exactly the pages you asked for, which is usually what people mean when they want a section out.

Can I extract pages that are not next to each other?

Yes. "1, 4-9, 15" works, and the pages are concatenated in document order into a single file.

Is the quality affected?

No. Pages are copied rather than re-rendered, so text stays selectable and searchable, and images keep their original bytes.

Why is my two-page extract so large?

Fonts used on those pages have to be embedded again in the new document, and that overhead is fixed rather than proportional to the page count.

Are the pages I did not select really gone?

Yes. They are not copied into the new document at all, so they are not hidden inside it. Check the pages you did select, though, in case they carry information you did not intend to share.

How do I remove a few pages instead of keeping a few?

Use the page deleter, which takes the pages to remove rather than the ones to keep. Whichever list is shorter is the tool to use.
